Fulham 1-3 Coventry - The look back
Fulham 1-3 Coventry
That was like returning from a long trip to find out your cat took a huge dump on your living room carpet.
Our return to the Cottage after five weeks and five consecutive away fixtures wasn’t quite the triumphant homecoming we’d hoped for. Coventry City did the double over us and have now scored seven goals against us in the process.
It was clear from the off it was going to be a tough day at the office. Coventry looked dangerous from every corner, and took the lead through one, on 20 minutes.
Their second came just four minutes later; Marek Rodak had an absolute nightmare, failing to scoop up a Viktor Gyokeres shot and directing into his own goal.
The second half brought a bit more brightness from Fulham, particularly in the earlier stages, but we couldn’t break the visitors down until 82 minutes, when BDR pulled one back. But instead of pushing for an equaliser, we conceded a third; Callum O'Hare tapped in after a Ream error to put us out of our misery.
There’s no need to panic, of course. But there’s every need to be realistic: next season will be a long and painful one if we don’t strengthen. We’re on our way to the Premier League - we just need to make sure we’re ready.
WHAT THEY SAID
▪️Marco Silva: This afternoon they were more confident and better than us. I have to give praise to them; I know at this level it's tough. It wasn't our afternoon in terms of being clinical because we had six or seven chances to score, we lost this game because of mistakes.
▪️Tim Ream: Utterly CRAP. I take full responsibility, especially for that last one. Can’t change it now and onto Friday we look. Truly honored to make 250 appearances for Fulham FC. It has been a dream to this point.
