Fulham 0-3 Brentford- The look back
The review will be short and the therapeutic resources will be plentiful. Promise.
If Carlsberg made weekends. And I say that based on the fact that Carlsberg is absolute swill.
We’ll need time to lick our wounds after that. A very even first 45 preceded a head-in-hands moment from Issa Diop, allowing Brentford to take the lead. And such was the game that the side to do that was always going to be in control.
Obviously matters weren’t helped by the incredible decision to not only award a penalty on the hour mark, but to dismiss Tim Ream for a second bookable offence. It snuffed out any hope we had of turning the tide.
Nine minutes of added time brought a small murmur of excitement from the Cottage, but Brentford put that fire out too, scoring a third just two minutes into it.
A rubbish day at the office, then. And only last year’s runners up next. But let’s not spiral out of control. Dark days like this won’t define our season. We’re bigger than that. And we’re bigger that Aleksandar Mitrovic, who’s now officially in the alumni section of Fulham Football Club. But we shall go again. You Whites.
What they said
Marco Silva: Many things [went wrong] not just one to be honest. One or two moments were punished. It was a really balanced first half, not many chances. We had moments, so did they. Almost at the end of the first half they scored and that had a huge impact. We started the second half better. We could have equalised.
Tim Ream: Still not sure what the actual call was. I won’t complain but can’t blame those that will. And if you want to know if I analyse my own performance and mistakes, it’s a resounding… Listen to [my] pod.
Sammy James: What a shite day, no way of dressing it up. Onwards and all that, but not one to look back in fondly. The only crumb of comfort is that for me the game was a coin toss, until Diop's moment of madness, it could have gone either way.

There are no easy games in the Premier League - but some are harder than others. It’s safe to say this is one of them. Oh well - things can only get better…
