Derby 2-1 Fulham - The look back
Derby 2-1 Fulham
The Fulham Faithful boarded their overcrowded trains on Good Friday afternoon buoyed by the news of Forest’s lunchtime defeat - win, and promotion would be ours. Sadly, Derby didn’t read the script, and pooped the party.
It started well, with Fabio Carvalho finishing a neat one-two with Bobby De-Cordova Reid to put us ahead, but two second half goals from the Rams put Rooney’s men 2-1 up. The second was forced into our own net by Tosin Adarabioyo.
We can keep saying “it doesn’t matter, we’re going up anyway”, but it’s hardly an emphatic way to stamp our return to the best league in the world. It just highlights the tough, tough, season ahead next term. Some of these players will be gone, of course, but those who stay can’t turn in performances like that.
Big game - and day - on Tuesday. Again.
WHAT THEY SAID
▪️Marco Silva: Our first-half was good and in the second-half, we expected a reaction and it was important for us to control the game and we made a mistake. We had chances to win. We are at the top of this league for a reason but we lost our focus. We have to improve.
▪️Joe Bryan: Ultimately, we wanted to win but we can’t get too down. The beauty of the Championship is we have another game on Tuesday, so we can regroup and go again.
▪️Lydia Campbell: Incredibly frustrating. Much better in the first half then just massively stepped off it. Can't do that against a team who need to win every game to stay up. Fair play to Derby...played with the intensity that we lacked. We'll still go up, but two losses in a row is grim.

Joe Bryan’s right - there’s not long to wait to put this right. But we need to rally and have a strong finish, as this just makes everyone terrified for next season.
