Sheffield United 4-0 Fulham - The look back
Sheffield United 4-0 Fulham
Let's keep this one short and sweet!
We fell victim to a Sheffield United side that wanted to secure its place in the play-offs, while our season was over. However, we perhaps didn't expect to get spanked quite so hard.
The tone was set after just 10 minutes, when Morgan Gibbs-White opened the scoring thanks to an awful attempt at a near-post save from Paulo Gazzaniga.
It was a slightly-tweaked Fulham side, with Gazzaniga in the sticks, and Michael Hector coming in to replace Tosin. Neither covered themselves in glory as the Blades found themselves three up before half an hour.
It was four just after the break, but the heaviest final day defeat by a championship-winning side since 1939 didn't dampen the party atmosphere generated by the travelling Whites fans.
Who cares, we're champions! A lot to do this summer, but enjoy the moment, enjoy the weather, and think about all the housekeeping needed in a week or two. You Whites.
WHAT THEY SAID
▪️Marco Silva: It wasn't the way we wanted to finish the season. It was a tough result for us. We started well and dominated until they scored the first goal. The way we conceded the second and third goals reflects our performance. It is a good thing that in the last 15 days we had two moments to celebrate. The players deserve it.
▪️Aleksandar Mitrovic: It's not nice to lose, but it was a less painful loss. We are champions.
▪Ben Jarman: Getting up at 6:30am was worth it to see Michael Hector slice the easiest pass in the world in to the stand, then everything went downhill from there
