Fulham 1-1 Wolves - The look back
He keeps going (Solom)on and on and on! Our Israeli magician scored again to secure a point against a tough Wolves side
Another Fulham match, another Manor Solomon goal.
Only this time, unfortunately, our Israeli winger’s strike wasn’t enough for all three points, as the Whites had to settle for one against a competent Wolves side on the up under Julen Lopetegui.
We were comfortably second best in the first half as Wolves controlled proceedings. They deservedly took the lead through Pablo Sarabia on 23 minutes, leaving Silva with some thinking to do at half-time.
And that’s exactly what he did, resulting in two changes at the break. New boy Sasa Lukic came on for Harrison Reed, while Solomon came on for Bobby De Cordova-Reid. The consensus in the stands were they were the right moves, and so it proved, as Solomon netting a wonderful curling shot into the right-hand corner after the hour mark.
Lukic’s introduction, albeit for Reed, was to give the Serb some much-needed minutes after Joao Palhinha picked up his 10th yellow of the season, ruling him out for the next two games. It was a seemingly unnecessary yellow, and it came so early you thought the Portuguese midfielder planned to grab a late second, so he’d only miss one game. Perhaps that would’ve been too obvious.
The draw leaves us just one point from the magical 40 mark, ahead of a tough game at Brentford next Monday. But there’s the important matter of the FA Cup fifth round on Tuesday night first. You Whites.
What they said
Marco Silva: Many things were different in the second half, the dynamic of the team and the way we pressed the ball. We didn't do that well enough from the start. It was a reaction that I wanted but that's how we should have started.
Harrison Reed: It's just a pleasure every single day - to be a Fulham player, to be putting on the shirt and doing the club and fans proud is really nice.
Rhys Daly: Feels like a point gained for FFC - who didn’t show up at all in that first-half. Tim Ream is immense at the back, Manor Solomon is an absolute gem.
