Fulham 0-3 Manchester City: The Lookback
Fulham 0-3 Manchester City
Ahead of the City game, a lot of us will have said "so long as we don't suffer a morale-denting thrashing, we'll be OK". I'd say we were on the right side of that - just about.
It was, as they say, a game of two halves. We coped with the champions elect well during the first 45; we didn't look like we were going to win the game, sure, but we handled what was in front of us - a different-looking City side, missing Sterling, Gundogan and KDB, but no less dangerous.
In the second, however, the real City came out. They went ahead through Jon Stones, who wrong-footed Areola after tapping in a Cancelo free-kick, before Cavaleiro gave Jesus a golden opportuntiy follwing a hospital ball to Andersen. The Brazilian didn't need telling twice. Our misery was compounded on the hour mark when Tosin conceded a penalty, chasing Torres who'd left him for dead a few yards earlier. Aguero netted for his first goal in 15 months.
The good news is: that's our three-game run of top six sides over. But Leeds at home on Friday is so important with Newcastle drawing on Friday and Brighton winning yesterday. Sammy, Farrell, Ben and Marco look at the game and take your questions in our latest pod.
WHAT THEY SAID
▪️ Scott Parker: There's no denying the mistakes we gave away for the goals were sloppy. You are playing against a team that in any moment of the game can hurt you. You have to be switched on. That's probably the deciding factor of the game.
▪️ Ola Aina: It’s frustrating that we made the mistakes because it’s not in our character, but these things happen. We’re only human. We have to take it on the chin and just move on. The mistakes have happened and it killed us a bit, but I feel the team still gave a good fight.
▪️ Jack Kelly: We have the drippiest team in the PL and we showed that tonight with some leaky defending. Chin up, not all bad!

Games like Saturday won't decide our fate, but games like Leeds on Friday most definitely will. If we can get a result against Bielsa's side, then the race for safety is most definitely back on.
