Fulham 0-1 Manchester United - The look back
A decent performance undone at the death by Man United. Sound familiar? It should.
There are three things certain in life at the moment: death, taxes, and a valiant Fulham performance ruined by a late Man United winner.
This time it was Bruno Fernandes who struck late, capitalising on no fewer than three Fulham chances to thwart the late danger, meaning we left Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off with nothing.
Marco Silva shuffled the pack a bit ahead of this one, bringing Rodrigo Muniz in, impressed by his latest energetic performances. Iwobi moved back into a double pivot with Joao Palhinha, with Pereira returning in the 10.
The changes failed to make a material impact. The Whites had 18 shots, with just three on target, and Muniz, while displaying the industry that brought him into the XI, was lightweight against the rugged, albeit technically lacking, duo of Maguire and Evans. The striker was visibly upset when he was brought off injured on 76 minutes.
That’s three defeats in our last five, with Villa away next Sunday. There’s a seven-point cushion between us and what is statistically the worst combined start to a season by the three promoted sides currently occupying the bottom three. Let’s hope that doesn’t get any slimmer.
What they said
Marco Silva: It is difficult to believe but the reality is it did happen again against us. It is something we clearly have to sort out, we have to keep the emotional control to the end of the match.
Alex Iwobi: Head up, analyse and go again… Appreciate the love and support!
Dom Betts: Any chance of us not getting shafted by this outfit every season?

It’s another trip to a side coming off a Europa League fixture. We’ve seen that we can capitalise on that fatigue. Can we do it again?
