Bournemouth 1-1 Fulham - The look back
Bournemouth 1-1 Fulham
The title waits for another day, then.
We we’re seconds away from (all but mathematically) wrapping up the Championship title on Saturday, but a 98th-minute penalty saved a point for Bournemouth, who - let’s be honest - needed it far more than us.
The penalty was scored by Solanke, only his 27th of the season (lol), and though our passionate Portugueezer Marco Silva was sent off for his protests, you’d be hard pushed to find a Fulham fan too bothered by the outcome.
Our goal - and EFL Championship player of the season Mitro’s 41st of the campaign - came after a goalless first half. He headed in from Wilson (who else) and goal-line tech deemed it to be over the line - but only just. Fine margins, eh?
The Cherries made it a tough afternoon in fairness, but we’re all pleased to be on the other side of Parker’s attritional style of football, which most certaintly isn’t “similar if not identical” to Silva’s.
Anyway, it’s back to the Cottage on Tuesday, and the chance to wrap up proceedings against an in-form Forest (providing we better the Cherries's result). Tough, but possible. You Whites.
WHAT THEY SAID
▪️Marco Silva: It's tough for us, for me it's a mistake from the referee [to award the penalty], that's made a big impact on the game. It wasn't a great game to watch, both teams didn't perform to their best in my opinion. I saw just one picture [of Mitrovic's goal] and I saw the ball over the line.
▪️Tim Ream: Thanks everyone [for the man of the match award]. That close to making it a perfect weekend. Can’t wait for 2 in a row at home now!!️
▪George Cooper: Everyone making the same "fine margins" joke and I AM ABSOLUTELY LOVING IT.
