The World Cup Break Round-Up - Issue 2
Return to base
There's still a week left of the 2022 World Cup, but the involvement of our six superstars is now over.
It was Joao Palhinha's Portugal who made it furthest in the competition, but it was a toss-up between Tim Ream and Aleksandar Mitrovic for FFC MVP when it was all said and done. For my money, Ream just nudges it - and who'd've thought that a few weeks ago?
Four of the six seem to now be back at a snowy Motspur Park, with all thoughts now turning from Doha to Selhurst Park on Boxing Day.
Well, that's not quite true. There is, of course, West Ham at the Cottage on Saturday to get through. While many clubs have used the opportunity to play prestigious European opposition in (slightly) sunnier climes, we're at home against a side we literally played two months ago. Cool!
Joking aside, we'll all be holding our breath and crossing our fingers that there are no more friendly injuries, after making it through the WC unscathed, and - crucially - seeing Manor Solomon return to full training.
Not long to go now!
