The Summer Round-Up - Issue 5
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times
Pre-season is finally starting to pick up. We bagged our second signing of the summer, as Andreas Pereira rocked up at Motspur Park. And we've also played some games! Our first, against OGC Nice, might have made the more optimistic among us think 'hey, everything's going to be OK'.
Well, if that was the case, then our 5-1 defeat to Benfica the following evening will have had everyone reaching for the big red panic button. Defensive errors aplenty, Marco started with what is, essentially, our strongest line-up. Rest assured, if that's the XI we field against Liverpool, you might have to double the scoreline.
However, fear not - as there'll be at least one new name among the squad; you don't have to be too eagle-eyed to have spotted Manor Solomon sat in the stands on the weekend, resplendent in our pink training kit (that really is getting some airtime this summer). Reports today suggest that Shakhtar is not too happy with FIFA, about the situation. Find out more on that below.
And, of course, what recent Premier League season would be complete without a row over ticket prices? £100 to watch us get gubbed by Liverpool before we eat our lunch. That'll put you off your prawn sarnies.
The news has split sections of the fanbase, with some saying ST prices are reasonable (fair) and that this is essentially a tourist tax (not fair). It's not just about Liverpool, or cat A games. It's about making Fulham Football Club accessible for the next generation of fans. It's not that complicated, but it is that deep. You can have your say in the Fulham Supporters' Trust's ticketing survey - again, you can find the link below.
