Middlesbrough 0-1 Fulham - The look back
Middlesbrough 0-1 Fulham
There are three things that are certain in life: death, taxes, and Wilson finding Mitro in open space.
Wednesday’s win was made all the more satisfying because the boys had to work for it. One or two eyebrows were raised when the line-up came out, with more than a few Fulham fans calling it industrious rather than creative. But Marco’s rare rotation paid off.
A tough first half in poor conditions had us questioning whether we’d leave the Riverside with anything more than soaked clothes – and that feeling intensified when BDR poked a gilt-edged chance wide from a Tete cross.
But Mitro wasn’t to be denied. He scored his 38th of the season in the 73rd minute – it was a magnificent, salmon-esque leaping header from a Wilson free-kick. The fact that in game 39 of the season, the Championship’s record goal-scorer can find himself in so much space six yard in front of goal beggars belief. But we’ll not moan about that.
The win means we need just two wins from seven to seal a return to the Premier League. But if Forest lose to Birmingham on Saturday, we could do it at the Cottage if we beat Coventry on Sunday. Now, wouldn’t that just be great? You Whites.
WHAT THEY SAID
▪️Marco Silva: It was a tough game. We were much more dominant in ourselves [in the] first half then fantastic reaction from them in the second half as well. They are a strong side, they have great quality and they can play with a lot of intensity as well.
▪️Harrison Reed: Big W 🤩 we dug in and got the job done. +3 we move. Travelling fans, thank you once again.
▪️Rhys Daly: Not the prettiest… but a very satisfying three points for Fulham on the road. FFC have now won 13 of their 20 away games in the Championship this season - losing only three.

So, here we are. Promotion is in sight. Whether or not it's possible to secure it on Sunday, it should be a corking atmosphere at the Cottage.
