Fulham 2-2 Crystal Palace- The look back
The curtain closes on another season at Craven Cottage with draw, then. But our work isn't over yet...
We brought the curtain down on another season at Craven Cottage, safe in the knowledge that Premier League football will return to the banks of the Thames for the 2023/24 season.
And though we didn’t get the three points, there was plenty to cheer about. Mitro got his 13th and 14th Premier League goals of the season, making it comfortably his most successful in the top flight. We scored our 53rd and 54th goals of the campaign, making it our highest-scoring Premier League season. All this, and we still have a chance to beat our points total against United next week.
It was Palace who took the lead on the day thanks to Odsonne Édouard, but the Whites managed to head in level at the break, thanks to a late penalty from Mitro after Harry Wilson was brought down in the box.
Mitro’s second of the afternoon was another trademark header from a corner on the hour mark, and while it looked for a while like that’d be enough to take the spoils, a close-range goal from Joel Ward with less than 10 minutes remaining meant the points were shared.
The Hammersmith End was clearly in jubilant mood, serenading Eagles boss Roy Hodgson despite that late equaliser, with both clubs on the whole fairly happy with proceedings on the day - and across the season.
Chelsea’s loss to champions Manchester City on the Sunday confirmed a top-half finish in our first season back, and cemented the fact that we’ll finish above our rich but clueless rivals for the first time in 40 years. It’s said a lot, but it’s true: drink this in. These are halcyon days. You Whites.
What they said
Marco Silva: It’s a disappointing result of course. The way we started the game on the front foot clear and commanding the game and took the game for our side - first 20 minutes we did it really well.
Joao Palhinha: I have no words to thank you for the affection you have given me since the first day I arrived here! Thank you very much for all the support you have given us through the stands. Last home game at our Craven Cottage this season.
Peter Rutzler: Fulham guaranteed to finish in the top 10... and above Chelsea for the first time since 1983. 10th secured, just that points record total to chase...

The end is near. It’s the final game - can the Whites (and Mitro) gain redemption at Old Trafford?
