Fulham 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur - The look back
It was our second defeat on the trot under the lights at the Cottage - but there's plenty still to come from this FFC side.
The difference between these two sides on the night was wafer-thin. Well, Harry Kane-thin.
It was the England captain who made the difference in the end, equalling his club’s record goalscoring tally with a classic Kane goal.
The strike came just before the break and defined the game. The Whites were the more impressive side in the first half, and deserved to go in level, if not ahead, with BDR and Reed having decent efforts.
There were chances in the second half; notably Manor Solomon’s late attempt that forced Lloris into a save. But despite ending the game with six attacking players on the pitch, we couldn’t get the equaliser.
Overall, despite a second consecutive loss, there’s not a whole lot to grumble about in SW6. There are only six teams above us in the league, and these losses have come against two of them.
The Forever Fulham award given to Roy Hodgson at half-time is a timely reminder that we’re enjoying a wonderful period as a football club. And while we might struggle to hit those heights of the Europa League run again, these are halcyon days for Fulham.
It’s minnows Chelsea up next in the league, and a chance to win at Stamford Bridge for the first time since 1979. Let’s focus on that. You Whites.
What they said
Marco Silva: Our goal is clear from the first moment and people have said we were favourites to go down again. We are here to fight and stay in the Premier League. Our position in the table is something to be proud of, but the Premier League is really tough.
Joao Palhinha: I think that was one of our best first halves this season. In the second half it was tough to get a goal, but we need to keep our concentration in all moments, because one goal can punish us.
Jack Collins: One of those for Fulham. A tad off the pace, a bit unlucky, a little lacking in the composure for the final ball. Absolutely nothing to worry about - but a shame, because Spurs felt beatable tonight.
