Crystal Palace 0-0 Fulham - The look back
No goals, but more than enough chances to win the game as the Whites take a point on the road.
And they say football isn’t a nuanced game.
A week on from a 1-0 win against Luton where chances weren’t exactly free-flowing, we take just a point from Crystal Palace, where we could’ve won by a couple.
All things considered, another point and our third clean sheet of the season is a decent return against a side tipped to edge the contest thanks to our lack of goal scoring chance creation.
We could’ve gone in up at the break, but Palace ‘keeper Sam Johnstone denied Pereira, Willian and Jimenez - the latter will certainly hope that his moment is coming.
Goals are going to be a perennial problem this term - you don’t sell your top scorer without that being the case - but, whisper it quietly, we’re not doing too badly defensively. We’re top with Man City for clean sheets - not bad nearly 10 games in.
It’s Norwich in the cup yet, before the SW6 derby - you’d fancy that one to have a goal or two in it. You Whites.
What they said
Marco Silva: Great effort from the boys, good spirit and organisation. Overall, I think we deserved the three points. We created the most chances to win. The clearest chances, especially Raul [Jimenez] in the first half. Andreas [Pereira] too, when Raul squared the ball. From Willian as well. We created enough.
Bernd Leno: There was more possible today but we take the point and the clean sheet.
Joe Sansom: Much better performance today, especially from a defensive point of view. Could have nicked it but that point means we have matched last season’s return after 6 games despite all the uncertainty.

The uneducated would have you believe it’s the yo-yo derby - so, of course, it could only happen in the cup...
