Barnsley 1-1 Fulham - The look back
Barnsley 1-1 Fulham
That was an odd one.
We came away from Barnsley with just a point on Saturday – and it’s hard to say whether it’s a point gained or two lost.
The main talking point from the lunchtime kick-off was the penalty decision for Barnsley’s goal. Carlton Morris took the ball off Tosin several yards out – but also took a large portion of his shirt.
The infringement went unnoticed by referee Tim Robinson, who then went one better and awarded a penalty, as Morris fell over with no contact at all from Adarabioyo. The penalty was scored, and the Tykes found themselves ahead.
We weren’t at our best by any stretch of the imagination, but we managed to grab our equaliser late on, thanks to a peach of a curler from Wilson – who made us all groan for the wrong reasons minutes later by missing a sitter with his noggin.
A special mention goes to Tim Ream, who suffered a quite grizzly head wound after a collision with former Fulham loanee Domingos Quina. It’s not a surprise that Captain America puts his body on the line for the Whites, but it certainly shouldn’t go without thanks.
WHAT THEY SAID
▪️ Marco Silva: We have created enough chances to win this game. It wasn't a fantastic match to see for sure - from both sides. It is difficult conditions to play good football on that pitch also. Too long and too dry. It is no excuse for us of course because we have enough chances to score.
▪️ Tim Ream: If I told you the dead leg hurts worse than the head… would you believe me?
▪️ Cam Ramsey: While it was a less than riveting performance, one with countless defects, I’m satisfied that we managed to secure a point against a side that will do everything they possibly can to maintain their Championship status.
