Arsenal 2-2 Fulham - The look back
The Whites gave us just the tonic we needed post-Brentford, as they battled to leave the Emirates with a point.
Now, there’s our battling Fulham.
The Emirates is rarely a happy hunting ground for us – results against Arsenal in general are tough to come by – but a point on Saturday was just what the doctor ordered after our derby defeat against Brentford.
It started in incredible fashion, when Pereira capitalised on a hospital ball from Saka and finished coolly past Ramsdale. The Whites held onto that lead until the break, despite near-constant pressure from the Gunners.
Saka made amends for his earlier error, equalising from the spot after Kenny Tete had brought down Fabio Vieira, then Nketiah scored a second just two minutes after, leaving us all fearing the inevitable.
When Calvin Bassey became the second Fulham centre-back to see red in as many games, even the most optimistic FFC fan must’ve thought that was all she wrote, but Joao Palhinha was determined to have the last say – he fired home from a corner with just three minutes of normal time left on the clock. There were plenty of added nail-biting minutes, but the Whites held on.
That was a vital point before our trip to the Etihad next week. Could we go one better in Manchester? We can dream. You Whites.
What they said
Marco Silva: A great reaction from ourselves from the last result. Many people said this would not be a good stadium to come to and show a reaction. We believed it could be the best place to come and show that.
Joao Palhinha: Great effort and soul until the end even with one less player on the field against a very difficult opponent. How good it is to be with my team on the field again, pride boys. Thanks to our fans for all the support until the end.
Jack Kelly: Horrendously heinous but a point gained, great grit from Fulham. That’s really pleasing. Get in! Fans were superb. Come on Fulham!.
