Before The Whistle: Fulham v Tottenham Hotspur

Written by Drew Heatley on 15th March 2024

I’m lookin’ forward to a crackin’ game of football, mate.

More than eight months on and the halo still hasn’t slipped from everyone’s favourite Premier League manager, Ange Postecoglu. He brings his Spurs side to Craven Cottage for the second time this season, hoping to avenge their Carabao Cup exit. However, we’ve not beat Spurs at home in the league since November 2008, with Simon Davies and Andrew Johnson getting on the scoresheet.

We’re looking rather healthy in the squad department. Raul Jimenez is back in contention, but it’s doubtful Marco would dislodge our man of the moment, Rodrigo Muniz. If our Brazilian starts ahead of loanee Armando Broja, we’ll have to stump up £4m, per the details of our agreement with Chelsea.

Silva opted to keep Lukic and Reed in the centre against Wolves – a noble, if potentially misguided decision. I’d expect Joao Palhinha to settle back into the XI, with Cairney alongside him.

It’s looking increasingly likely that Tosin will leave the club in the summer, despite despite Marco revealing in his presser that the club is still actively trying to keep him. But it’s even more apparent that he’s the best option alongside Bassey, so it’s a problem we’ll just face when we come to it.

A win, however unlikely, wouldn’t be enough to take us out of 12th – obviously. If we stay here any longer we’ll have to start paying a mortgage. But it would take us to 38 points, which would be nice. We can’t even slip into 13th, as Bournemouth don’t play this weekend thanks to Wolves’ involvement in the FA Cup. Pressure well and truly off, then. You Whites.
