Before The Whistle: Wolverhampton Wanderers v Fulham

Written by Drew Heatley on 8th March 2024

We’re on the up!

It’s three wins in our last six now, with just one loss – and we head to Molineux this weekend looking for our third win on the spin, a result that could move us into the heady heights of 10th in the Premier League.

We’re quietly coming into form at the right time – and we’ve got Joao Palhinha to come back following his two-match ban. That’s likely to break up the impressive pairing of Harrison Reed and Sasa Lukic, but Marco’s shown many times in the past that he’s not one for sentimentality.

Wolves are going well under Gary O’Neil, of course. But we all know that; unlike the mighty Whites, who seem to fly under every available radar, the media love O’Neil and are touting him for manager of the season. He’ll be without attacking duo Hwang Hee-Chan and Matheus Cunha, in a boost to our chances in the Black Country.

Contrastingly, our squad is nearly back to full fitness. Even Raul Jimenez is nearing a return – though this game comes a tad too soon. Marco’s still got a lot to choose from. Willian and Adama Traore will no doubt be stating their case for a starting berth – but that right-hand side in particular is looking locked after Wilson’s performance against Brighton.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves; our win at Old Trafford was only our second since the opening day. It’s our home form that has us where we are today. But Wolves aren’t infallible at their place, and we’re a side on the up. Anything could happen. You Whites.
