Fulham’s nine best Premier League goals

26th April 2023

Throughout the club’s history, The Cottagers have put on some fantastic displays and scored some incredible goals. Some have come from prolific scorers like Louis Saha, while others have come from less-expected sources such as Jon Harley and Paul Konchesky.

Regardless, over the history of our Premier League spells, there have been some corkers, so let’s take a look at them. Below, we have picked out nine of our favourite Fulham goals from the Premier League – enjoy.

David Healy – Fulham vs Sunderland – 2008

If you’re into sports betting using Irish betting sites, you wouldn’t have put money on David Healy pulling off this bomb against Sunderland. Indeed, the Northern Irish star wasn’t a huge goal scorer and during his 2007/08 stretch with The Cottagers: he only scored four times.

One of these was the amazing outside-the-box strike against Sunderland, where he received the ball on the right flank and curled it into the top left – unstoppable. Sadly, the Whites lost 3-1.

Louis Saha – Fulham vs Manchester United – 2001

Louis Saha had a great run with Fulham from 2000 to 2004, when he scored 53 goals across all competitions. One of his most memorable goals was Fulham’s first-ever Premier League strike – against Manchester United.

After a long ball from the defence, he was one-on-one with a defender and put in a blistering chip that left the goalkeeper rooted.

Jon Harley – Fulham vs Aston Villa – 2002

Harley played for Fulham for three years from 2001 until 2004, and his only goal with the club between his loan periods was pretty spectacular.

The ball was brought down in Villa’s half after a botched clearing from the defender. Harley came in with a full head of steam and unleashed an absolute thumper that curved into the top left-hand corner.

2002/03 was one of the fastest seasons that Fulham reached 40pts in just 34 games – surprisingly, this only gave us a 14th-place finish.

Papa Bouba Diop – Fulham vs Manchester United – 2004

There’s something satisfying about goals scored against the Red Devils and this was another corker from the late Bouba Diop in 2004.

Papa Bouba Diop played for Fulham from 2004-2007 and although he didn’t score many goals, he was an integral part of the team and this 30-yard belter caught the Man U defence off guard for sure.

Louis Saha – Fulham vs Newcastle United – 2001

As we mentioned, most Fulham fans will remember Saha’s performances and his impressive goals, and this was another corker. This was a period when he had his memorable blonde hair, and this goal came from a simple control and pass from Legwinski.

The French player controlled the ball, squared up and unleashed a beautiful curler into the top-left corner, which the Newcastle goalkeeper had no chance of saving as he was off his line.

Simon Davies – Fulham vs Arsenal – 2007

This match was at the impressive Emirates Stadium and unfortunately was part of a 3-1 loss to the Gunners. Nonetheless, it was a brilliant goal and certainly worthy of being included on this list.

The goal came after a botched clearance from Lehman, who punched the ball outside the box. Simon Davies was there to pick up the pieces in spectacular style.

He chested it to bring it down and then half-volleyed it in a high sweeping arc. It felt like the ball took forever to come down, but it did – and it came down right into the Arsenal goal.

Diomansy Kamara – Fulham vs Tottenham – 2007

Who doesn’t love a good overhead kick, and this is what Kamara treated us to in September 2007 against Spurs. We had a long throw-in that reached to the nearside of the goal, which was then headed on into the box.

Kamara didn’t think twice and didn’t even control it – he simply turned around, facing away from the goal, and pulled off an epic overhead that the Spurs keeper just couldn’t reach. This goal actually levelled the game too, in the 90th minute.

Paul Konchesky – Fulham vs West Ham – 2009

Paul Konchesky had a decent time with Fulham from 2007-2010 and was a pretty strong left back. Like a few others on this list, he wasn’t a consistent goal scorer but when he got the chance, he had some memorable strikes!

One of these was against West Ham in 2009. Konchesky received the ball on the far left and had plenty of open space to run – which he did. He built up a decent pace and just let fly with a bullet from around 40 yards.

Bryan Ruiz – Fulham vs Reading – 2012

Did you know that Bryan Ruiz is the only Central American player to have competed in the Champions League, Europa League and Copa Libertadores? He played for Fulham from 2011 to 2015 and although he started his time here with a bad foot injury, he did make an impact.

Possibly his most memorable goal was against Reading in 2012, where he had a nice one-two on the edge of the box and belted in a cracking shot that smashed into the underside of the bar and went in.

Here’s to more amazing goals

There are many more goals that we could have mentioned, and it’s difficult to narrow it down. You can check out more in this official video that celebrates 30 of our best goals throughout the team’s Premier League history.
