Welcome to the new Fulhamish website
A new way to consume and support Fulhamish's independent content
Hello and welcome to the brand new Fulhamish website! Hopefully, you'll agree - it's looking as swish as Harry Wilson's new haircut.
Today marks a big day for Fulhamish, as we've wanted to relaunch our website for a number of years. This new site is fully banner-ad free and also much easier to read - we also have some really exciting new column and articles ideas to make the Fulhamish website bigger and better than ever.
The new website, powered by Substack, is also going to be where you can support Fulhamish financially, should you wish to.
The back story
Making Fulhamish still remains the ultimate passion project that got out of hand. What started as a weekly podcast, quickly turned into a fully functioning website, 3x pods per week and now our YouTube is busier than ever, we published 211 videos last season, and this season we plan to release even more.
When we first started Fulhamish, it all happened alongside my day job as a radio producer - recording episodes after-hours in empty studios whilst bosses weren't looking.
However, over the years, we wanted to find ways of making things more sustainable, so we started paying regular contributors for their time and also any editors who helped bring content together.
Everyone involved with Fulhamish loves discussing Fulham and would do what they do for free, but equally, I believed it was right to give the income we made back to those who give up their spare time.
In recent years, we've incorporated Fulhamish into the audio/video production company, Footwork Media, that myself and George Cooper have built. It's allowed Fulhamish to benefit from the resources and equipment (such as the podcast studio - available for hire btw) that Footwork has at its disposal.
However the biggest move we've made in the last few years is to have a dedicated person overseeing the production of Fulhamish podcasts and videos. We have learnt that Fulhamish is the perfect place to give up-and-coming talent hands-on experience in the media industry, because it's a real-life product with thousands of listeners.
Yasmin Mills, who you've no doubt heard on the podcast and on QuickTake, has been our first full-time hire to manage Fulhamish - a job she's done spectacularly well while on a placement year from the University of Leeds.
Without Fulhamish, taking on Yasmin wouldn't have been possible, but now she's been with us for 11 months, she has picked up so many production skills that will serve her brilliantly when she graduates next year.
This is the legacy we want Fulhamish to have. Not just a place for us to talk about Fulham, but also a place where young Fulham fans wanting to work in the media industry can gain extremely valuable, paid experience.
Your support is critical
This is where you come in, if you listen, watch or read what we do on Fulhamish, and you are able to, we'd really appreciate it if you can subscribe to us.
Hiring anyone, even a junior producer, is not cheap. We do make a bit of money from advertising, but it's not enough for us to be able to hire somebody. Our decision to not directly promote gambling companies a few years ago also has a big limiting factor.
Making Fulhamish has never been about profit. Ultimately, we don't have a big enough fan base for us to do that anyway. All the money we currently receive for Fulhamish goes straight back into Fulhamish itself, and we intend to keep it that way.
None of our content is behind a paywall. Our pods, videos and articles remain free to all Fulham fans regardless of whether they can afford to support us. We have always prioritised engaging with the Fulham community, and making our content exclusive doesn't achieve that.
However, there are a couple of perks for subscribers. All our videos (including visual versions of our podcasts) will be available advert-free to paid subscribers, and you’ll get access to the Fulhamish Community on Telegram - a group chat with hundreds of Fulhamish listeners from all across the planet talking about the latest FFC matches, news and rumours.
Therefore this initiative rides or dies on your generosity. We are so grateful to all of you who support us already, without which none of what we've built so far would have been possible. We're hoping that this new subscription platform, plus more transparency over our operation, will convince a few more to do the same.
Thank you very much for reading this - we hope you'll enjoy the new-look website and as always, YOU WHITESSSS 🤍
Have just paid my first year, you have given myself and my 95 year old Dad so much pleasure over the years, it’s about time I thanked you properly. Keep up the brilliant work and hope to see you in and around the cottage next season, COYW, Stuart Roberts, Shropshire.
Good luck lads. Hope this revamp helps you grow the base of your contributers!
