The FFC Rumour Mill: Nelson snapped in Bassey's car and Pereira samba-ing off?
Get the lowdown on the latest rumours swirling around Motspur Park.
At the time of writing, we have one more week until the transfer window shuts with fan discontent over our lack of business continuing to grow. Marco Silva stated prior to our draw with Manchester United that Fulham are “not active at all” in a damning press conference which our very own Jack Kelly covered in detail on Friday. Surely something will happen this week? Surely?
Incomings
The main talking point from an incoming standpoint this week is the winger merry-go-round of rumours. The same names keep cropping up but none of which seem to be progressing any further. The alleged ‘crunch talks’ with Kevin took place last Monday and has since drawn radio silence regarding that move. Daniele Longo has reported that we have offered a loan with an option that could become an obligation for AC Milan winger Samuel Chukuweze this week, an obligation you imagine would occur if the Nigerian plays a certain number of games.
The other two names that continue to be touted are Reiss Nelson and Raheem Sterling with Sky Sports reporting Fulham still hold an interest in Nelson from Arsenal and The Telegraph claiming that Chelsea are willing to loan Sterling out as part of a clear-out at Walham Green. Nelson looks likely to be finalised soon, with Calvin Bassey circumventing the Motspur Park Snapchat ban and snapping the winger in his car. It is madness that it has come to this…!
Graeme Bailey has reported that Fulham are a number of clubs holding a long-standing interest in Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo with the 20 year old open to a loan move after falling out of favour with Ruben Amorim. The source is dubious on this one but he’s exactly the type of player Fulham need and a great way to fill a domestic loan spot. Get it done, Tony.
Other incoming news this week comes firstly from Nizaar Kinsella with Fulham now adding FC Basel winger Philip Otele to a list of options before next week’s deadline, an offer of £15m could be enough to purchase the 26 year old. Finally, back in the Premier League, Pablo Oliveira has reported that Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Turkish side Trabzonspor are interested in Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga.
Outgoings
The biggest news of the week is that Rodrigo Muniz looks set to stay at Fulham after a deal was unable to be made with Atalanta. Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday that move was off after Fulham rejected the Italian side’s €40m proposal. Miguel Delaney has since claimed that Fulham are working on a new deal for the Brazilian with Marco Silva hopeful of getting it done when speaking before Manchester United.
From one Brazilian to another, Andreas Pereira is reportedly interested in a move back to Brazil to sign for Palmeiras. Brazilian reports are claiming that a deal could be made for €12 to €14m, with Pereira not involved in the matchday squad on Sunday. While talks aren’t ongoing this is one I could see happening, with the emergence of Josh King. Pereira has previously mentioned his desire to return to Brazil, annoying Silva, and this constant uncertainty is something he won’t want around the squad.
Final piece of news from this week is that Sky Sports have reported that Fulham are considering a bid from Coventry City for winger Martial Godo. I think this is one dependent on if we get players in on time; I don’t think Godo is good enough for Fulham, but Silva won’t leave us short given our lack of activity so far this summer.
Well that’s all, folks. Fulham once again annoying Silva, Fulham once again interested in loan deals, Fulham once again doing…nothing! The Rodrigo Muniz news is a huge positive for the club and hopefully a deal can be arranged soon but deary me - the lack of incomings is getting tiresome. Just one week to go…
Fatawu, the Leicester winger would be a good buy
