Seriously concerned with Arbeloa. He showed a lot of naivete today, and is clearly throwing Palacios in the deep end when he is totally out of his depth at the moment. The flaws in his setup were papered over by Sanchez letting in two easy goals last week - without those, we would be down -5 on goal difference and looking dangerously out of ideas. Shea Charles was not signed to come on as a backup right back with half an hour to go.
Palacios is definitely not ready to be starting at this level, Arbeloa needs to.take his Madrid-tinted glasses off. Also Sess at RB? Guy is clueless, and the scoreline against Chelsea massively flattered us. THIS was our real marker - and it shows we are a poor side atm. Relegation is a real possibility.
Palacios does seem like he could use a bit more time to get up to speed. Problem is Kevin right now is showing absolutely nothing.
However I think had the squad played today like they did against Chelsea they’d have taken home the 3 points. You can argue a stronger keeper stops the goal by King though I’m not convinced. King sold a cross to the back post before putting a good hard shot to the bottom corner. No keeper is stopping the García goal. Castagne gets a clean strike from 15 yards out. Sanchez can’t truly be expected to control that rebound. The two goals last week were well deserved. Had they played with the same level of attacking intent today they put 2 or 3 in the Sunderland net.
Agree. I was soo disappointed Kevin came on, it was screaming out for Muniz to join GG in box, 2 up front, aerial focal point, and may help us win some 2nd ball, which we didn’t all day
3 points from Palace is a must or we’ll be Spursy!!!
We need a keeper, a RB and RW, a swift CB, and another CM especially if we want to play the hi press… Iwobi isn’t the answer in midfield , Bobb and Kevin have no end product .. other than that …
A real shame the intensity and aggression we had against Chelsea was completely missing. Sunderland does not have nearly the attacking prowess of Chelsea to be concerned about yet we go into an overly conservative defensive posture against them?
Déjà vu same errors as Chelsea but this time no fire nothing it was awful . Whose at fault for the goal? bassey ? Leno? and his theatrical lunge . IMO if we are going to high press gonna need a GK who will eventually be our first choice keeper and CB before deadline have a feeling it’s gonna be TK bargain bin loans .. I hope I’m wrong . Why is Shea coming on as sub was he bought to be a super sub ?
Wistful watching Napoli, Benfica (Silva knew what he had!), and Ipswich, remembering when...
When the center of the field was in calm, confident hands. Love Berge but he's on an island in this setup as Iwobi flies hither and thither without seeming purpose. He's a much better player than he's being directed right now.
15th is looking about right, we can hope. Coventry, Villa and, please, Spurs are lining up to drop, but it's early. Arbeloa better remember where he is and adjust accordingly.
