All of CP's threats came down their left - their game plan. Tete was caught out several times.
On their 2nd goal Leno was grabbed and prevented from coming out to punch away.
VAR took our goal away by stopping the video after the ball left ERA's foot - not when it was last touched by him; but then would not call obvious goalkeeper interference when the corner was kicked.
Marco started a good lineup - which many of us had been suggesting - but then shot himself in the foot by substituting out 2 offensive players on the day. I understand subbing in Kevin who sparkled last Tuesday but bring him on for Raul and push Wilson centrally [where he captains for Wales]. May I suggest Marco start realizing that the same solutions for the Championship won't necessarily work in the Premiership. And to make a needless defensive substitution in midfield will be punished.
Silva has a real issue here: Performance against sides in games we should just win. I am not sure whether he just over thinks it. Verses good teams we always get up and put in a shift. Fulham need to win or draw v the rest. Not a great game for Kevin IMO poor passing as highlighted but his decision making as also poor. That aside with him and Sam added, we have one of the best lists in my time following the club. We need more.
Little bit harsh on Iwobi, he did also win the header and hit the post for ESRs non-goal, wasn't an easy chance!
Feels like we're drifting towards a mutual parting of ways with Silva at the end of the season. Barring silverware, it's not looking like a season in the right direction despite a record signing, emergence of King, ESR settling in, great loan signing in Chukwueze.
Your strategy in your player ratings seemed to be to uplift the players and over-rate them so that you could tear down Silva at the end. However, starting with Leno's over-rating whereas Owen, The Guardian, and my own eyes saw Leno make errors on two of the goals...I could go through the other players but won't. Yes, Marco did not have a good game but his substitutions and the timing of them have generally been excellent this season. To put it in perspective : the scariest article this season in Fulmanish was the one on alternate managers to Marco. It started with Brendan Rodgers and sank from there. Give Marco some credit for not being a blow-hard and a fool like Rodgers and most of the usual re-treads on the EPL manager carousal.
P.S. You do make a good point on our corner kicks : why have two players there? Marco should lose that one.
