Liverpool 4-3 Fulham - The look back
We'd never scored more than once in a Premier League game at Anfield. So of course, we scored three on Sunday and still lost.
If you told me on Saturday that Fulham would score three at Anfield, I’d have bet my house that we’d have taken three points.
Thankfully you didn’t, and I am still warm indoors. But boy, what killer. The Whites put in a hell of a performance against a Liverpool side that clearly ate their Weetabix – well, when it came to shooting, anyway.
It took four incredible strikes to finally put us away. The first came from Trent Alexander-Arnold after 20 minutes, though it went down as a Leno OG as it came off the crossbar then his back. We equalised just four minutes later through Harry Wilson, ex-Liverpool of course, who was awarded a start thanks to some impressive substitute appearances.
Alexis Mac Allister then banged a goal in that we’ll see on YouTube goal compilations for years to come. Annoying. Amazingly, we went in level at the break after Kenny Tete poked home and VAR gave us the all clear.
Even more incredibly, we led with 10 minutes of normal time remaining; Tom Cairney continued his influential run in the side by setting up Bobby De Cordova-Reid. You’d think it was all over… it wasn’t.
Wataru Endo scored his first for the club on 87 minutes and Alexander-Arnold wrapped up the points a minute later. A loss of heads? Perhaps. A spirited performance that showed we’ll be just fine this season? You bet.
The big one is on Wednesday. Beat Forest at home, and we can put a five-point gap between them and us, and as much as 11 between us and the bottom three. More of the same please, Fulham. You Whites.
What they said
Marco Silva: I'm really proud of them, definitely. The way we played, the way we matched Liverpool, the way we showed the spirit. We are taking many [positives] but unfortunately no points, but this is something we will take into the future.
Antonee Robinson: Tough one not coming away with anything but still a lot of positives we can take from today. Thanks to the traveling support as always. Onto Wednesday.
Harry Durham: Tough one to take. Unbelievable performance from the boys. Robinson was on fire, take a bow son. A point each would’ve been a fair ending, but that’s life.

A win at Anfield would’ve been good, but let’s be honest - keeping our rivals at an arm’s length is more important.
