I’m following many of the contributions on Fulhamish, and agree with a lot of what’s being said. I’d like to add one thought: a big question is whether Arbeloa can LEARN, and learn quickly. One can accept mistakes, if the general trend is towards saying (to oneself) ok, that wasn’t right, I’ll do it differently now.
With AA I thought I saw evidence of that in the way the dreadful defensive chaos was addressed after two games. Defensively we improved. But in other ways, he doesn’t seem to be learning, particularly around game management and substitutions. This is CRUCIAL. Instead we get what looks like arrogance and rigidity. Taking Charles off regularly at key points is just idiotic, and seems to be a ‘statement’ substitution rather than a tactical one
So there is not much time left for him to show he can learn. We don’t know, but the signs are not good in my view.
I would argue what he 'learnt' after tye first couple of games was just yo make the obviously needed changes that even a 5yr old could have done. I don't believe those changes involved and particular acumen on AAs part. He is massively out of his depth and we don't have time for him to make the level of improvements needed to survive in the PL
I'm a bit tired of the 'There's a player in there' lines. We've been saying that about ESR, King, Bobb, Kevin, and now we add Garcia, Manuel, Palacios and Larsson to that list. From which only King is showing any sort of consistent output. It's too many too carry, we need players OUT there, stopping us getting relegated. We really over-corrected on the squad age thing, when we are clearly not the size and type of club who can cope with such high-risk strategies. And it again demonstrates TKs immaturity and cluelessness as a DoF.
In addition if we do sack AA we are still stuck with the Spanish trio so new manager will have to make do,I can't see us splashing out big money for a forward in January,Charles is a great signing along with our Austrian right back, performance at Liverpool was encouraging,as previous posters have said I would like to see Sess and Robinson working together,I suppose if we win the next 2 games pressure will be off, will try to be hopefully optimistic going to the Hull game fingers 🤞
We should remember of course that Silva was very stubborn and kept picking players regardless of how out of form they were. Particularly the ones he was responsible for getting signed. He also played players out of position quite often and a lot of his substitutions left fans bewildered.
It seems to me that AA is a very similar character unfortunately, although if he is arrogant as it sometimes appears That's not necessarily a bad trait in a competitive world. He will inevitably try to justify wanting the three RM players but they are suffering from being signed right at the end of the window and not at the beginning so they're having to learn on the hoof as it were. Of the three I think Palacios looks like the most promising.
I would like to see Sess on the left wing. He crosses well, takes on defenders and is not afraid to shoot. He also tracks back to help the defence.
Good summation of where we are. As John said above, AA needs to learn, and demonstrate that he has done so. He also needs to learn how to talk to the fans and the press.
About recruiting we've made some big mistakes ESR is becoming an embarrassment Kevin erratic that's 60 million wasted, Jimanez papered over the cracks last season scoring goals and nervlessy scoring penalties not prolific but made huge contribution all over the pitch,we miss him dreadfully, that leaves Muniz and Gonzalo, personally I think Muniz should start at least he wins balls and gives CBs a hard time, yes he had a bad last season but maybe he needs to play more and build confidence,Gonzalo is simply innefective he works hard but is not getting much change out of Prem defenders, maybe he will develop, for me Palacios is the best of the Spanish trio his passing is good and if he can link with Josh and Bobb we might improve,we still need an effective no 9!
An aspect of AA that doesn't get mentioned much is his attitude and demeanor post matches. He needs to hire a publicist and work on his manner. He comes across as prickly and moody at times. The Malaga debacle pre season and the post match interviews are examples. He needs to learn fast about the Prem AND the Fulham support base.

Why not Sess on the wing when Robinson is the defender.

I honestly don’t remember that about Silva. Please provide some examples if you can. Thanks.
I haven't seen Angel so cant comment - although having him mark o'shea was bizarre.
I think there is a footballer in Palacios.
I like Gonzalo, but perhaps start Muniz to bully defence and bring Gonzalo on when game is more open.
Our main problem is chance conversion I would suggest.
