Fulham 5-0 Nottingham Forest- The look back
Well, who saw that coming? Not us. But boy, was it welcome. Five goals, and some key performances under the Cottage lights.
Oh, what a night.
We needed a result after our spirited performance at Anfield, and boy did we get it. Fulham hit five without reply against Nottingham Forest, with season-sparking performances from the likes of Raul Jimenez and Andreas Pereira. It left us wondering if this season of transition could turn into something more special.
That’s not a purely reactionary statement. Since the international break we’ve looked a different side. We’ve more cutting edge, more intent. We’re sharper and we’re hungrier.
We’ve now score three goals or more in three consecutive games for the first time since England won the World Cup. The scoring started after 30 minutes, with Iwobi netting his second in three games. Just four minutes later, Raul rifled one in - the look of catharsis on his face was palpable.
There’d be three more goals after the break. Jimenez bagged his second of the night; he mugged off former White Ola Aina, rounded the Forest ‘keeper and proceeded to perform a backheel Rabona into the empty net. Our Mexican is well and truly back.
Iwobi added a fourth at the Hammy End 20 minutes later, before captain tom Cairney continued his recent flourish by sealing the win with our fifth of the evening.
We’re full of beans ahead of facing a Hammers side full of bubbles on Sunday. Who will win? There’s only one way to find out…
What they said
Marco Silva: Delighted for everything we put on the pitch tonight. Great team performance, great result. Clean sheet - so so important for us. After the first goal we expressed ourselves, controlled the game on and off the ball really well. We didn't give almost anything for them to create.
Raul Jimenez: I needed a night like this. To score in front of the fans is really good - twice is much better! I want to keep pushing, keep going, looking forward to more goals.
Sammy James: I am still absolutely staggered that Raul scored a backheel rabona. Can you IMAGINE if he had missed?! Absolutely gigantic cojones after the season he's had.

Up next: West Ham United (H)
They’ll be buoyed after their with at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but there should be zero fear on our side either. A win would be huge.
