Fulham 3-1 Bournemouth - the look back
The Whites are back to winning ways - and Roddy Muniz is loving life in the Prem.
Muniz may have popped his Premier League cherry last week - but on Saturday he lanced 11 of them.
The Whites got their first home win against Bournemouth since 1992 on the weekend, with plenty of positives to emerge from the 90 minutes.
The first positive came after just six minutes. Muniz, working hand down the flanks, put a ball into the box, which Lewis Cook fumbled, only for Bobby De Cordova-Reid to pick it up and slot home.
Our second came half an hour later. BDR added an assist to his afternoon, heading downwards for Muniz to flick past the ‘keeper. A real striker’s finish.
Bournemouth came out of the traps fast in the second half, and grabbed a goal back through Marcos Senesi. His wonderful turn-and-strike finish was quickly forgotten, however, as Muniz added his second - and the Whites’ third - with a wonderful volley at the far post from a pinpoint Willian ball. The Brazilian was unmarked - and the Cherries were made to pay.
The three points means we leapfrog our opponents and now sit just 11 points off the magical 40-point mark with 14 games left to play. We’re back at the Cottage next week, albeit against tougher opposition in Aston Villa. But we should be ready to capitalise and pass the 30-point threshold. You Whites.
What they said
Marco Silva: It was a very good performance from [Muniz]. Three goals in two games. It’s always important to help the team get the points. Last season was really tough for him, but he's getting his game time right now and helping the team.
Armando Broja: First time at Craven Cottage and first win. Can’t wait for more.
Jack Kelly: We can breathe a sigh of relief after that. 3 big points which gives us some breathing room in the table. Delighted for Muniz, a brilliant brace! The performance was good, 1st half much better than the 2nd. Bassey and Iwobi to come back too, looking much rosier for Fulham! COYW!
