From the press box: Positive injury news ahead of Wolves clash
Jack Kelly gives us the latest from Marco Silva's press conference
Fulham'‘s injury crisis looks like it’s been given some much needed respite ahead of the big game against Wolves tomorrow afternoon at Craven Cottage.
Let’s just dive straight into it. As is tradition, team news is the first item on the agenda, so like every Fulham fan, I was keen to hear what Silva had to say.
“Things are starting to look a bit better, I like to have the young players around, but it’s much better to see the senior players around in terms of numbers and bodies in our sessions, it’s been completely different the last two days”, Silva said.
“Some of them, after a long absence, are starting to come back with the team, start to play with the team. Joachim Andersen is going to be in, definitely. Antonee Robinson is still out. Emile Smith Rowe is going to be in contention, Harry Wilson too.
“The other players we have to analyse, like Rodrigo (Muniz), like Samuel Chukwueze as well, but looks like they can be in condition for the game too”, said the Fulham boss.
Silva also confirmed that Raul Jimenez is also a doubt, he was subbed in the second half against Wycombe.
Great news. Just great news. I’m not expecting all of these players to feature tomorrow, but to at least have them in and around the squad is very positive indeed. A much needed boost.
With a more favourable run of fixtures *on paper* coming up, having the strongest squad possible should stand us in good stead.
Antonee Robinson is still the main worry. But, Ryan Sessegnon has been a fantastic understudy - growing game by game, and made a very positive impact on Tuesday night.
I think that’s the mindset I’m going into tomorrow’s game with. Positivity. Not because Wolves are rock bottom, but because I believe in this group of players.
The win in the cup, as touch and go as it ended up being, could be the springboard this Fulham side needed to kick-start, or re-kick-start the season.
I’ve missed that winning feeling, and three points tomorrow would raise the morale of the fans, and the I’m sure club as a whole.
Silva mentioned he doesn’t like to get too up, or too down. It’s important to stay grounded as a manager. To keep the player’s feet on the ground when the times are good, but to keep them motivated and hungry to turn things around when times are more difficult.
I’ll tell you what, a rendition of ‘Can’t take my eyes off of you’ at around 16:55 on Saturday afternoon at Craven Cottage would be very welcome. I think three points would trigger a collective sigh of relief around the ground.

A big game, there’s no hiding from that. Come on Fulham.

Hey with all these injured players back maybe the ones that don’t fit on the bench can occupy a few of those £100 seats!
