I think some of our current players are in for a shock if Arbeloa is true to his word. He says he wants the team to give their all in every game. Don't think they are used to that...particularly domestic cup matches and late season games. I'm hoping the lethargic wandering around style is a thing of the past. CC has a reputation of a sterile library like atmosphere. Yeah.. it does..for a reason.. the football has been poor. Really hope AA can inject some hunger in our squads existing players and new arrivals will help i think. This may be season for Kevin and Oscar to come into their own and start performing. Oscar's Norway performances were great. Bring it back to SW6 please. Id like to see more emphasis in set piece coaching and giving some of our U21 guys some first team time. So.. let's get some new quality players in and stick it up Chelsea in our first match. COYWS!
On the negative side, there were no questions about the teams in the prem apart from Chelsea will being hard…all managers probably want to play attacking football but like France last night ended up playing poor football. I wouldn’t have minded if there was a question about whether the gaffer would do an in depth analysis of all 20 teams, but nope.
How about the rest of the coaching staff that follows AA - could Fulhamish have a dig into who they are and what type of experience they bring along with them? They are also influential in how we carry out AA's offensive vision - which I support and love as it fosters team-play and subsequent togetherness. Something I believe is required for a team of our stature and financial muscles in light of the bigger clubs in PL.
Extremely optimistic about Arbeloa’s appointment. I know Sammy was a loyal Marco fan but Marco really didn’t put much effort into the season once he knew he was leaving. This prolonged lack of commitment began at the end of last year and became worse as he saw out, and ran down, his contract. He sapped the energy from everyone both on and off the field. I guess like any relationship it’s tough when someone is going to leave.
Speculation on transfers is we are looking at defenders which, if it’s true, must mean we will be losing some of our centre backs. Of course it’s unlikely to be Anderson, who seemed to mirror Marco’s lack of pure energy. Once again Jose will have another an indirect say on Fulham’s season, as he may want to keep some of the Real youth team.
Now that the WC is nearly over, and the work permits are in place, I expect TK to get on with it. An In - Out list of players must already exist, plus a few additions from the WC.
The Chelsea game will be a reckoning for both Clubs as the fans get a taste of what’s to come.
Of course he will become an instant favourite if we win, But…you know the rest.
