Brentford 0-0 Fulham - the look back
This was anything but a fiery derby - and one that won't live long in the memory.
Look up ‘bore draw’ in the dictionary, and you may well find this game.
Fulham saw out a goalless stalemate with rivals Brentford at their place on Saturday, with the only talking point being Raul Jimenez’s miss from six yards with minutes left on the clock.
In the dying embers of the game, Adama Traore cut back to the Mexican striker, who’d come on as a sub, only for him to miss despite being in acres of space.
It’s another blot on Raul’s copybook, who’s not really come close to providing the value we’d hoped he’d bring when we signed him in the summer. Whether he was the Mitro replacement or not, you’d want more for a Premier League striker with pedigree.
Nevertheless, a draw is better than the Bees doing the double over us, and we’re still (somehow) just four points off the top half with two games left to play. That said, we’ll finish in 12th, won’t we? You Whites.
What they said
Marco Silva: A tough game for both sides. It is a derby that is becoming a little bit more special, the incentive for both, and I think we showed that in the match as the best chances were for us. We kept them really quiet. Even though they are dangerous on set-pieces we kept them quiet because we did our job.
Antonee Robinson: We had enough chances to win the game, to be honest. It’s unfortunate that we didn’t put them away, but to come out of it with a clean sheet is pretty good.
Cam Ramsey: Raul was virtually in his own postcode and he dispatched his strike like an Evri delivery driver in need of a piss and a cig at the end of a 12-hour shift.

A result against the Champions elect would certainly make the headlines. Have stranger things happened? Probably, but not many.
