Bournemouth 3-0 Fulham - The look back
We're officially in a festive slump. Our consecutive 5-0 wins seem a world away as we fell to a 3-0 defeat on the south coast.
It’s not been a Merry Christmas for the Whites.
A meek and mild display against Bournemouth on Boxing Day saw us fall to our third consecutive loss in the Premier League.
Justin Kluivert - once reportedly a target of Tony Khan and his recruitment team - opened the scoring in the first half. And Fulham gifted Bournemouth their first penalty in 65 games, which Dominic Solanke made no mistake scoring.
Sinisterra wrapped up proceedings in added time, leaving the Whites in 13th and sending the Cherries up to 10th.
Perhaps this is just what mid-table mediocrity looks like. A run of impressive results, followed by a slump - rinse and repeat. Perhaps we’re wrong for expecting more. We’re certainly not wrong for wanting it.
It’s Arsenal at the Cottage next. So it’s likely we’ll wrap up the year with four defeats on the trot. Not great for morale, perhaps, but at least things can only get better. You Whites.
What they said
Marco Silva: Bournemouth deserved to win. When you concede goals the way we did, we don't deserve to get any points from the game.
Alex Iwobi: We go again.
Jack Kelly: Not too fussed by this dip in form - couple of poor displays but it’s not always going to be sunshine and rainbows. Glaringly obvious we’re missing Raul, but a big response needed against Arsenal. Starting to look over our shoulder a tad, January is pivotal on and off the pitch!
