Bournemouth 2-1 Fulham - The look back
The losing run continues as a poor second half performance condemns the Whites a fourth straight loss in all comps.
It’s officially a slump.
We couldn’t arrest our recent decline, nor banish the demons of Old Trafford, against Bournemouth – although it certainly started brightly enough at the Vitality Stadium.
Andreas Pereira put us one up just past the 15-minute mark, which was more than deserved as the Whites dominated the early goings. Robinson could’ve made it two , but he rattled the crossbar.
But despite going in one up at the break, it was Bournemouth who took all three points to climb out of the relegation zone. Marcus Tavernier scored a wonderful curling effort to equalise, before Dominic Solanke (of course) wrapped things up for the Cherries with a scrappy tap in a little more than 10 minutes from time as we looked a shadow of the side that played the first half. Â
The loss leaves us 10th – our lowest position since the end of last year. We’ve got three winnable fixtures coming up – we could be right back in the mix with a good run, or we could find ourselves in the bottom half of the Premier League. An important April indeed.
What they said
Marco Silva: We were so clearly the better team in the first half. I think we had a little bit [of a] lack of a killer instinct in the second half because we were so much the better team. It was a strong reaction from them and of course, we lost control of the game. We switched off completely, we were punished by that, it was sloppy.
Andreas Pereira: Vamos Fulham FC. Let's lift our heads and win again. I know we can!
Joe Sansom: Second half should have been shown after the watershed.
