Ali Mac is the one who has convinced Shad that they need to drag out negotiations until the last minute to save money. Tony has his list of players. And, we tend to get good players when we sign them but our problem recently is waiting too long to sign them (and just not getting enough in). We do reach out to players but our problem is that we will not close - which is what Ali Mac does - because we believe that the prices will go down if we negotiate hard enough or wait long enough. Also, we are not getting rid of Tony until Shad sells the team. So why not focus on the main cause of this problem.
Papa Khan has said that he bought Fulham, at least in part, toi spend more time with his son. Tony and Shahid are a team and we don't lose one without the other. I feel pretty strongly that FFC fans will *not* be getting a better owner if/when Shahid sells the team. Now with a new head coach in place who is looking to bring in exciting young players who have potential to be game changers, the tone of this site has completely changed to an overwhelming call for experienced players and a manager who can guarantee us safety from relegation but also ensure the club will not finish higher than 12th. Is mid table safety all we really want?
I think some sites went a bit over the top with the youth movement fetish. Fulham doesn’t have a very big margin for error, and because of that will always need to depend on established players while selectively bringing along a small number of younger players. It’s foolish to think that Fulham could totally reset with young players and survive in the PL. Even worse, if Fulham were to get relegated, all those talented youngsters would be out the door the minute the vultures start circling. No thanks - I would rather wallow in mid-table security.
Separately, given how things look, it’s a good thing Fulham didn’t get into Europe. Marco and Harry would probably still have left, Fulham would still have a thin squad with no money to spend, and would probably be relegation locks by December due to the extra fixtures.

ESR, Kevin, and Bobb were big money acquisitions, but Marco never got a tune out of them, either due to the inability to develop them, poor talent evaluation, or a combination of the two. Regardless, the three of them (Bobb to a lesser extent) haven’t come close to expectations relative to their massive costs. If they played at or near what was expected of them, we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

According to rumour Arbeloa wanted several of the Real youth players both to buy and on loan. The delays in Madrid have complicated matters as now other European clubs are vying for the same players that were identified by him.
He also has to assess the Fulham squad in a short time span. Senior players, who may still have value in the transfer market, will be moved on and replacements who can fit into his system of playing found.
It’s a complicated business. Some players are only just returning from World Cup duty and need to be assessed, both for their qualities and fitness and injury issues
To compare other club’s transfer policy to our own will only lead to doubts and confusion. Each club is different. It’s very dull to hear the constant and repetitive call for TK to leave. That is Not going to happen. I do think Arbeloa might get the best out of Kevin, ESR, King and Bobb (and hopefully Sess, who should be starting in my book), and I think we're going to nee them to get 15-20 goals between them, because I do not see JKA, Muniz and (probably) Garcia getting very many at all. But we need signings!

I think it will be one if 2 scenarios. I don't think it will be more of the same. It will be either a complete mess and we will be on the bottom 6 having a worrying time come Spring due to the gaffers inexperience and the stubbornness of Khan. Or there will be a total change in mindset at player level and we click as a team and start getting more consistent results. New signings will have a positive influence and our existing players will play to the Arbeloa model rather than remnants of Silva. Obviously as a STH I hope its the latter.. but I do share the authors worries.
The one thing that has impressed me is Alvaro is a coach who spends time with players in his track suit explaining and showing the squad what he expects,also think we will be super fit.
