A certain manager called Pep Guardiola had no first team exprience before taking over at Barcelona. Arbeloa does have considerable experience of the Premier League and has a pedigree from the most successful football club in the world. A certain risk yes but one that looks to more fully integrate the club and bring down the average age of the squad. In short, a reboot. A brave decision from the Khans and one that I'll support rather than whinging before a ball is kicked.
Sammy, this appointment is the definition of Fulhamish, ever optimistic but waiting for the disappointment and hoping it won’t be too bad. I love it. It shakes things up and that’s what we need.
Big gamble, hope there are get outs,,now need to know the backroom staff.i think he will find it will be difficult to constantly be on the attack cos he will leak goals.
Absolutely a risk. But I like that he’s spent years working his way up to first team coach. I like that he was picked from within at Madrid - they knew him and trusted him as an interim. I like that he may be a portal to some additional talent. McKenna who was rightly first choice had a similar development path. He probably has a few more years first team management than Arbeloa - but only one in top flight where Ipswich only won 4 games. We’re moving to a younger squad - which also brings risks, but I like this appointment.
